- natural sandy beaches, mild climate, beautiful countryside. In addition,
it has a rich cultural background and a distinct architectural style.
Intricately decorated dovecote are found all over the island. The
greenish-white Tinos marble is one of the best and it is still being used
today by local sculptors. The island is the birthplace of many distinguished
Greek artists and it hosts one of Greece's Art Universities.
The
island is also famous for its magnificent Church of Megalohari, with the
miraculous icon of Virgin Mary. On the 15th of August each year (a day
dedicated to Virgin Mary), the island is visited by thousands of Greek
and foreign visitors.
