Astros
is one of Peloponnese’s best seaside resorts offering clean sandy
beaches, a full range of recreational facilities together with traditional
colour and a relaxing atmosphere.
The
main beach of Paralion Astros is 5 km long and very clean (Blue Flag).
In the summer, you can hire canoes, sea-bikes and windsurfs. There is
also a sailing club where you can hire boats to explore the beautiful
coast.
From
Astros it’s easy to visit many archaeological sites of the Peloponnese
like Mycenae, Argos, Tiryns, Epidavros, Nemea and Nafplio.
Astros
is built on a star-shaped peninsula (Astro in Greek means ‘star’)
with its ancient Acropolis standing on the highest point. On
another hill, stands a medieval castle with great views over the Argolian
Gulf and the surrounding area.
Inland from Astros, one finds unspoiled countryside, picturesque cottages,
farmhouses and monasteries dating as back as the 12th century.
